I was incredibly lucky with this shot because the sun was blazing and the ocean was still and calm like glass so you could clearly see the ice under the water line. The blue colour is due to oxygen being compressed and removed from the ice over thousands of years when the iceberg was part of a glacier. This photo was taken in an area of the Lemaire Passage. We were the first ship to break through the ice and see this. If you look at the bottom of the frame of the picture you will see that I accidentally captured the edge of the black Zodiac boat.
